I shared the ELA CPG's for the second six weeks to the department head. I met with the principal and we talked about how we can promote the POL"s across subjects. I co-planned the learning activities with Ms. Regen for her English 3 classes. We discussed different ways we can facilitate and promote Accountable Talk, Academic Rigor and Clear Expectations in teaching students how to respond to text-specific interpretive questions, analyze characters, analyze theme and reflect on reading comprehension strategies they utilized. We taught together and created a class discussion criteria and rubric, modeled ways in analyzing characters and comparing and contrasting characters across texts, modeled how to use Accountable Talk responses to respond to questions and support their responses with logical reasoning and textual evidence.
We also discussed how we can make learning logs more organized and how to use quickwrite products as learning artifacts.
