Briefly summarize these two pages, including what Svobida experienced in Kansas compared to what you know was happening throughout the South. Member #2. Choose a quote or line that resonates with you and explain why it appeals to you. How does Svobida's language impact what he is saying? Member # 3. Answer this question, "How was Lawrence Svobida physically affected by the dust storms?" Give evidence. Member # 4. Answer this question, "How was Lawrence Svobida mentally affected by the dust storms?" Give evidence. Member 5: Choose two sentences from the two web pages, and explain the most effective way to combine them. |

Use your prior knowledge to explain the universal theme in this song and how it relates to the Great Depression. Member # 4. Choose three sentences in this song, combine them into prose sentences and explain how you have combined them. Member # 5. Explain what you learned from this music video and support your response with evidence from the lyrics. |
| Group # 4 Watch the slide show. As you watch this slide show, you will do the following: Member # 1: Look carefully at the second, third, and fourth pictures, which all show mothers. Using your prior knowledge and what you can infer from the expressions, write a short first-person paragraph in the voice of one of the mothers revealing her thoughts at the moment the picture was taken. Member # 2 and #3: Look carefully at the picture that shows the two men standing in front on the grocery store.Write a short dialogue of what they might be saying to each other that reflects your prior knowledge of the Great Depression. Member #4: After watching the video, play it again with your eyes closed. How does the music enhance and set the tone for the slide show? Member # 5. Write at least 6 one-line comments about the pictures. Then combine them to make three sentences and explain how you have combined the sentences. |
